ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
The Alden March Bioethics Institute (AMBI) is a multi-institutional bioethics research organization based at the Albany Medical College in New York.  26 faculty originate first-rate scholarship with the support of more than $3 million in federal and foundation grants.  The Institute produces The American Journal of Bioethics and bioethics.net. Its faculty direct a number of graduate programs including those offering the M.S. and Ph.D.

AMBI's journal, The American Journal of Bioethics [AJOB], has been ranked #1 among all journals in medical ethics in the 2007 list of the highest impact journals in academia. With an Impact Factor of 3.379, the Journal is now cited almost twice as frequently as any other journal in medical ethics, and is #1 of 28 journals in ethics, and is more frequently than many well-known biomedical journals such as Academic Medicine, Critical Care, Journal of General Internal Medicine, Fertility & Sterility, and Health Economics.

In other news AMBI Director Glenn McGee has been named one of the ten most influential and innovative people in Tech Valley, the "Hot Ten," by Albany Chamber of Commerce.

In the April 25 edition of the Albany Business Review, Alden March Bioethics Institute is singled out among the institutions responsible for the new ranking of Albany as the "11th smartest metropolitan area in the nation" and the top city in New York for young talent. The story, which made the cover of the nation's Business Review magazines, is available to read online in full text and is a strong endorsement of the research of the Institute and its faculty's role in the region.
